Halo 3 introduced the feature to take your own screenshots from a console game, and since then loads of others have picked up the torch.
Gears of War 2, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and many more allow you to take in-game snaps and upload them to the Internet for others to view and rate. Here are a few of our favourites.
Gears of War
Horde Mode by chantaztik
After practicing for hour after hour, there comes a point where the Horde ceases to be scary. Chantaztik has trapped a boomer with shields, forcing it to pose for a team photo.
Best Friends Forever by Ledechu
Even an action hero can't be a tough guy all the time. Here we see Marcus and Dizzy holding hands and frolicking together along the river side.
Action Shot by SLDMxSnakeDoc
What do you get when you combine a mortar strike, a cool action pose and some split-second timing? You get a striking stylised shot that everyone can admire.
Carmine's Face by Tenac1ous T
Skilled snapper Tenac1ous has finally revealed what Carmine's true face looks like. It's pretty freaky stuff. We're guessing that's why he always wears a mask.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Jiggy Goldmine by Wert AC
Wert AC's enormous stockpile of 98 jiggies is very impressive. It's about as many as you can possibly gather in one place. He's going to need a bigger truck.
Katamari Damacy by Harappa
We're huge fans of Katamari here at OXM, so this photo by Harappa is an instant favourite.
Thomas' Destruction by Eaglesnum5
No-one likes a smug winner, and Trophy Thomas is one of the most irritating. Kudos to Eaglesnum5 for kicking him into the volcano and capturing his horrified expression.
Halo 3
Halo 1 Box Art by Redd Hedd
This remake of the original Halo's box art is almost picture perfect. The attention to detail here is great, from the warthog in the background to the banshees raining down plasma shots.
Transformer by Undisputed Hawk
Many hours must have gone into constructing this robotic behemoth in Halo 3's forge. It's a staggering photo with some truly excellent staging.
Forza Motorsport 2
Beatles by Murcielago 1
Many of the photos at Forza Motorsport's community site aim for photorealism, but Murcielago's picture is all about style and composition. Superb work.
Porsche by Duffer999
A classic composition from Duffer999. The warm colour from the sunset and no-nonsense framing of this Porsche962 make for a great photo.
How to take Photos
A quick guide to capturing images from the following games...
