Far Cry 2 enables editing of other player's maps

Idiot design decisions can be fixed and re-uploaded
A post on the official Far Cry 2 blog has gone into a bit more detail about the map editing tool that ships with the game, confirming that you'll not only be able to download user-created maps from Xbox Live, but that you can make improvements and put them back.

"If you would have done part of the map in a different way, then you'll have the ability to edit the existing user-created map (with keeping credit to the original map maker)," says the nameless Ubi type. "This sharing option will hopefully get the community to put their creative heads together and collaborate to come up with even better maps."

No mention of whether you'll be able to do that with the maps that ship in the game itself - wonder if the devs are up for the criticism?

Anyway, we've been playing around with the editor ourselves, and can confirm it's a brilliant addition to a game that's shaping up to be one of the best of 2008. Look forward to a bit more detail in the next issue of the mag, out 29th September.
