20-Aug-2008 Super flinging or naffarama? It might be the rock-lite music that barely musters enough enthusiasm to dribble out of the speakers. It might be the pointy PlayStation2 polygons that wear scars and bruises from Oxygen's attempts to hammer them into the 360. It could even be something as simple as the crazy shifting eyes that every darts player has.
Regardless, there will be a point when you realise PDC World Championship Darts isn't going to be the game to lodge the Halo 3 disc from your Xbox 360.
A straight up port of the game that hit PlayStation2 at the start of the year, it's a fairly simple rendition of darts. By fairly, we mean extremely. You aim a small reticle, pull back on the analogue stick, push it forward again to throw. It's the Xbox 360 pad's way of replicating a fat man's arm and it's easy to get the hang of.

Maybe a little too easy. Once you get used to it, you can sling 180s onto the board without too much trouble. Regardless of whether you're a custom-made darts slinger or a professional, it's a little too easy to romp your way to the top scores.
What else? There are achievements. There is online play. There are party games. Barring any further unexpected surprises, that's about it. It's a straight up game of darts with no bells or whistles attached. Just Phil Taylor, his lifeless death stare and four lines of commentary recycled over and over.
PDC World Championship Darts 2008 will have to pull something truly special out of the hat come its release, if it the review to avoid being littered with the word 'naffarama'...
