A demo for Red Faction: Guerilla looks to be a distinct possibility, although a spokesperson for Volition told us this week that it was working out how to create a taster of the game that doesn't give away too much.
"A demo's something that we're looking at. We're not exactly sure what it will entail or when it will hit. At E3 we saw people playing this game for hours upon hours; once they get the hammer they want to level every single structure. So we have to look at "what's too much?" to give away as a demo, and what's too little. How do we really present someone with an idea of the game, when really what people want to do is blow stuff up. We're still trying to decide exactly what we can show."

A lucky few North American gamers won't have to wait for a demo because public beta test is due to begin shortly. Unfortunately, at present there are no concrete plans to open it up to other territories. "That's something we can consider, we're not sure. The beta came up as an opportunity to test for us. Some companies maybe want to use beta as a marketing too, but really we didn't use it like that. We really wanted to see how it would play out in the wild and get balance and tweaks. As far as bringing it over to Europe or anything like that, right now it's mostly North America and a lot of that has to do with technical issues. It just depends. If it's received really well, maybe other territories will be like "please, please, please!" and you know, it's something we could see about."
So a European beta isn't ruled out completely. It sounds like public demand will determine if we get to take that early trip to Mars.
