Mystery thickens: Avatar once had normal achievements

Picture proof shows Avatar DID used to have tricky (well, trickier) achievements.
Avatar, the game that is notorious for having the easiest achievements on Xbox 360, once had much tougher achievements.

After digging through old review code, we found that the review code for Avatar that THQ sent us once sported a normal looking list of achievements.

These ranged from reaching a certain hit count in combos to completing levels normally.

There were 20 achievements in all, a substantial increase on the current game's tally of five.

To get all the achievements in the Avatar that you can buy in the shops now, all you have to do is reach a 50 hit combo in the game's training level. It takes no longer than a few minutes.

So what happened? Good question. All that we know is at some point between the review code being pressed and the retail version being pressed, the achievements were changed for some reason.

Still, it should fire for those old conspiracy theories that the achievements were deliberately made easy to boost sales...
