Thursday 15-May-2008 11:47 AM As in, teaming up together online, not as in getting the birthday cake and silly string out. Gears Of War 2 producer Cliffy B has said that not having a party system would be a "pretty big **** up" in an interview with Joystiq.

One of the criticisms of Gears Of War's online gameplay was the lack of a party system. This led players to come up with increasingly convoluted ways to find each other in ranked matches and eventually resulted in 'stacking', where players who knew each other would 'stack up' on one team and have an immediate advantage over the random players on the other side.
Although not a direct admission that Gears Of War 2 will feature a party system, Cliffy B's response does at least show he's aware of the problems. Given the huge strides Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 have made for Xbox Live play since Gears Of War, it would be crazy to see Epic make the same mistake again.
