Dynasty Warriors: Gundam

It's a Gundam son of a bitch, this one
The Dynasty Warriors games offer the most Marmite experience you'll find on the 360: either you'll love getting stuck into seemingly endless hordes of enemies and building up huge kill combos, or you'll be bored out of your mind constantly running up to big swams of opponents while jabbing the X button. So while we could spend all day going on about the pros and cons of this, the fourth Dynasty Warriors game on the 360 (if you're counting Warriors Orochi), the fact of the matter is that if you've played this kind of thing before then your opinion of it in the past will more than likely be the same opinion here.

The big difference here of course is that instead of fighting battles in ancient China as has been the case in other Dynasty Warriors games, this time all the battles take place in the popular Gundam universe, home to those dirty big mech robots that have Japanese robot fans squealing in delight.

The two main modes will only make sense to hardened Gundam fans: the Official Mode offers a set of missions based on the main Gundam Universal Century timeline (yes, that one) whereas Original Mode features an all-new storyline where teams of pilots from the various Gundam series team up to check out an unknown planet. Safe to say, if you're into Gundam this will have you soiling your mobile suit with glee, but for those not clued up on the storyline you're going to struggle a bit, since the game doesn't try to explain the situation for "noobs".

You're expected to know who these characters are, you're expected to know why certain plot twists are a big deal and you're expected to be excited when a character from Zeta Gundam interacts with one from Turn-A Gundam.

If that means nothing to you, then we'd recommend giving this a miss and going for one of the other Dynasty Warriors games or Warriors Orochi instead if you like this sort of game, because at least with those you can walk in with no prior knowledge and gather some semblance of a plot fairly easily. This on the other hand is only really suitable for Gundam nuts.
