BioWare has dropped its clearest hint to date that it will be nudging Mass Effect 3 back towards RPG territory.

In an attempt to address criticism of the original that Mass Effect's shooting was weak, BioWare concentrated on rebuilding the shooting and focused on that.
The end result is a critically acclaimed game (read our Mass Effect 2 review to see why) although it left some fans moaning that it wasn't a RPG, comparing it to "Gears of War with interactive dialogue".
BioWare's Christina Norman promised "richer RPG features" for the third instalment and also acknowledge that no-one liked the mining mini-game, so that will likely change as well.
