In an attempt to address criticism of the original that Mass Effect's shooting was weak, BioWare concentrated on rebuilding the shooting and focused on that.

The end result is a critically acclaimed game (read our Mass Effect 2 review to see why) although it left some fans moaning that it wasn't a RPG, comparing it to "Gears of War with interactive dialogue".

BioWare's Christina Norman promised "richer RPG features" for the third instalment and also acknowledge that no-one liked the mining mini-game, so that will likely change as well.

Don't forget to read our Mass Effect 3 - What's Next feature for our predictions on the third in the series.
