MW2 patch: Akimbo 1887s will be nerfed

Notes on the forthcoming patch includes surprising but welcome nerf for double shotguns.
The forthcoming Modern Warfare 2 patch will nerf the notorious Akimbo Model 1887 Shotguns as well as fixing the infinite ammo glitch.

The information comes from a recent tweet by Infinity Ward Community Manager Robert Bowling, which reads:

Update in Test now: 1887s Balanced. Public "private" Match fix. Infinite Ammo fix. Prestige Hack on PS3 fix. Texture Hack on PC fix.

So the two main glitches will be fixed but the surprise is that the Model 1887s are being balanced. Lots of players have moaned that Akimbo Model 1887s are overpowered, with most players prefering to use those secondary weapons as their main gun of choice due to their damage and surprising range.

Now they're being 'balanced', which can only mean that they're being toned down. But how? Less range? Lower rate of fire? Longer reload times? Less power? We're guessing less range but ultimately, we'll have to wait and see.

No release date has been given for the patch yet.
