The video, which we've embedded below, shows the multiplayer gameplay including plentiful driving, shooting, and exploding in the style of the two games, albeit slightly better presented. It's been posted by Dorian Compo, a visual effects artist recently made redundant after the studio's closure.
The last Mercenaries game, World In Flames, was gleefully entertaining and we liked it, but it was very obviously designed on ageing tech and didn't look as impressive as Red Faction Guerrilla or GTA IV. That might have made it easier to port to an online framework, though, where lower detail means lower ping.
Or maybe not. Maybe we're embarrassingly wrong and it was one of those games that was, hnngh, "rebuilt from the ground up."UPDATE:Bitmob's report on the video says that the game is still in pre-production at EALA, where a handful of Pandemic staffers finished up. So it might still see release, although that's not confirmed.
In other video news, there'san Office Space tribute that a few Pandemic staffers put out yesterday, to mark the studio's closure.
