EA has revealed that while three million people played Dead Space, only half bought it.

The strange statistic, revealed by EA Studio Producer Glen Schofield on the official EA podcast, can be attributed to the game being lent out amongst friends and high rentals.
Schofield doesn't believe that the lack of co-op is what held Dead Space back from monster sales. "We were up against Fallout, which was a 50-hour game to begin with," he explains. "So, we didn't look at it and say we have to have online. What we said we've got to be bang for the buck."
No real reason is given for the high-played, low-bought ratio. Oddly enough, I'm one of those who didn't buy it yet I'm borrowing a copy off a friend right now, so I'll contribute to this odd statistic as well. If you didn't buy Dead Space, why not?
