Friday 3-Jul-2009 4:44 PM Weekend giveaways persuade people to buy 360 version Valve has stated that running free weekend trials of the PC version of Left 4 Dead increases sales of the Xbox 360 version.
Talking to OXM at a Left 4 Dead 2 preview event yesterday, marketing superhuman Doug Lombardi told us that PC giveaways drive Xbox sales.
"What's interesting about the free weekends on Steam is not only do we see sales increase on Steam, but we see an increase in retail for both PC and 360," he said. "We seem to have this network effect that branches out beyond Steam and PC. So it's really powerful stuff and we want to do that as much as possible."
This is why Valve will be putting out a multiplayer demo of Left 4 Dead 2 before the game proper goes on sale, as we revealed yesterday.
