Gamer David Fontenot has started a petition at Change.org for the restoration of Xbox One's original digital licensing model, or at the very least, something like it.
"This was to be the future of entertainment," reads the statement. "A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox. But consumers were uninformed, and railed against it, and it was taken away because Sony took advantage of consumer uncertainty.
We want this back. It can't be all or nothing, there must be a compromise."
Microsoft dropped Xbox One's online DRM last month, junking certain associated features like 10-member family sharing in the process. The manufacturer has assured the internet at large that it "still believes in digital in a big way".
The petition's off to a slow start, with only 212 supporters at the time of writing. We'll keep you posted.
