Some silly man on the internet would like us to believe that the below is the very first image of - or at least, pertaining to - this year's Call of Duty, in hopes we'll breathlessly hail it as such and be ritually stoned by the masses. Little does said silly internet man know, we can post said image as a probable fake and still reap the associated traffic. Cake! Eaten! But see, it's right here in my hand as well.
The shot gives a plausible-sounding release date of 11th November 2013, and suggests that Neversoft - known to be working on a Call of Duty game - is lead developer. Which is rather questionable - Infinity Ward may need propping up nowadays, following the great Zampella/West exodus, but it's hardly dead and gone, and there's Sledghammer Studios and Raven Software to account for, too. Also, the image looks Black Opsy, and we doubt Activision would risk conflating Black Ops with Modern Warfare in the popular imagination.
Assuming it's legit, the catchphrase "ready to get back to basics" points to a reboot of some description, and the wristwatch has "present day" written all over it. Your thoughts? Thanks to OnlySP for spotting this.
Update: As suspected, it's all lies.
