There's not much shooting in Ubisoft's latest Far Cry 3 video, but they've dialled up the burning to compensate. Ah, we love the smell of singed machismo in the morning.
Tattooed leading man Jason Brody is stuck in what resembles a colonial mansion. Fancy fire effects are conspicuous. Somewhere, a woman screams for help. Subsequently, defenceless pipes are ruthlessly shot to release water over the flames. In closing - a thrilling car-starting sequence.
This is obviously one of the game's linear bits. Elsewhere, you'll take flanking routes through caves, throw knives at unsuspecting guards in no particular order, fly hang-gliders across idyllic bays and endure deranged monologues. Jonty's verdict on Far Cry 3 at the time of writing: "It's all looking enormously promising - a shooter that has more in common with Oblivion than Call of Duty."
Step over here for an unforgivably pretentious Far Cry 3 interview/feature. The game releases on 6th September in Europe, 4th September in American Land.
