GTA TV and Rockstar TV trademarks snapped up by Take-Two

GTA 5 to feature new video strategy?

Take-Two Interactive has trademarked "GTA TV" and "Rockstar TV", possibly auguring an all-new level of trans-media promotion for Grand Theft Auto 5.

The trademarks cover everything from kids' cartoons to documentary films. Listings mention "computer game programs and software; animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes."

Grand Theft Auto 5 takes place in San Andreas.
Past Grand Theft Auto titles have featured in-game radio and TV programming, plus a range of associated viral websites. Where do you think Rockstar could take us next?

Grand Theft Auto 5 is slated for release this year, though analysts claim it could slip to 2013. Rockstar has recently begun hiring for next gen development work.

  1. Maybe they could have some bands on in clubs.Real or made up maybe.As to media maybe you could have portable music so that you can have music on foot instead of just vehicles.

  2. Yeah I loved going into the comedy clubs or that theatre on the first island, seeing ricky gervais and that other comedian who made jokes about how there's no dogs or kids or anything like that. There was also frankie boyle in a dlc pack, I'm not a big fan but the stuff put in was pretty good.

    The theatre's best though ... like when the magician is levitating his assistant.

    Then there's the adverts on tv, and the programs like the one with the two guys who urinate in the credits and for some reason their chat show is in a mens bathroom? And the Master Chief show, and bubblegum girl... man there was so much random stuff in that game, a technical powerhouse.

    -> Awesome ideas!

    They could also do interactive phone ins for the radio stations.. I love listening to the random crap on 'Tuff Gong' in GTA4, would be awesome if your playable character could contribute...?

    Yeah kleinman that was pretty funny if you watched them all as well.Not that i am knocking it but that was my point it was all comedy.Even the lost and dammned dlc like you say has frankie boyle.Maybe if it visual maybe another movie studio like in vice city.

  5. You're one of the rare few after more realism over comedy! Nice. If they did music acts, I bet they would be spoof acts with a lot of comedy mixed in... Lazlow MTV or something.

  6. No its not that i didn't like it.That was all there was.That is what i meant with made up bands maybe they could do another spinal tap,lol.
