Remember True Crime: Hong Kong? The rather tasty-looking, United Front developed John Woo fest Activision canned because "it just wasn't going to be good enough", as detailed in our feature The best games you'll never play?
The one Square Enix scooped up last summer for a 2012 release? Well, it's apparently now called 'Sleeping Dogs'. As in, let lie.

The artwork comes care of retailer Future Shop, which has since pulled it (thanks TSA), and fits a recent Square Enix trademark (sorry, Kane and Lynch fans).
More as we get it.

I was really looking forward to this since I've always sort of like True Crime and thought it was going to finally break free of the Poor Mans GTA tag. So glad it got picked up, and that it has a release window soon enough to still be in peoples memory.
Now to see who was right: Square or Acti?

It's nice to see this game getting a release after all, but an August release might be dangerously close to GTAV. Unless they know something I don't.

Wouldn't it be great if this out performs this years CoD. I would literally piss my pants laughing. I thought it was looking good enough, before they pulled the plug, but hey what do I know I'm not activision.

Since you aren't Acti it probably means you know how to diversify your product range rather than over rely on a couple of titles that will inevitably crumble
Fingers crossed it does well and Acti's shareholders finally realise that someone at the top of their company hasn't got a clue how to run a long term business.

I remember back in the day when True Crime LA came out, and the GTA double pack was delayed until January 1st, so I got True Crime for crimbo instead and it was awesome - bullet dodging, randomly frisking people for no apparent reason and LA was hu-u-uge. It was B class but it was good fun, with a branching storyline that you can choose whichever to go down. GTAV for september release will damage this games sales, but GTAV for winter will boost it providing a three-four month filler for eager fans.
Thanks for watching random gues... official analysis.
