38 Studios and Big Huge Games have outlined Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning's day-one DLC content, a tournament mode entitled House of Valor.
Free to Online Pass holders (which means you'll need to buy new or fork out for a code), the House of Valor offers "a near endless variety of combat challenges" thanks to a wide selection of bonus objectives. Rewards include "unique" items.
"The Grand Champion Tyr Magnus will challenge players to compete in the Valor Arena and overcome all obstacles to survive the barbaric tournament and ultimately seize control of the arena," reads the official blurb. "As the player battles through the Valor Arena, they will meet new companions and rivals along the way.
As one of the few examples of pass-restricted single player content, House of Valor has proven controversial. 38 Studios boss Curt Schilling stuck up for the measure last week, insisting that "we MUST make a profit to become what we want to become".
Our Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning review went live this morning, praising the game for its combat but pouring cold water on the world design.

I agree with the online pass for multiplayer and not for single player.
