A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, people used to play Star Wars games that weren't MMOs or LEGO titles. One of those games was the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Battlefront, and according to a new spate of job listings, another instalment could be on the way soon.
The listings are over at Spark Unlimited, rumoured to be working on Battlefront 3 in December. One calls for "a senior combat designer for a 3rd Person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise currently greenlit for full production development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC markets."
Another CV suggests the project may run on Unreal Engine using Kynapse AI middleware.
Spark Unlimited Tweeted the following, mysterious message a few days ago: "Since we are working on a sequel for a well known sci-fi franchise, all aspects must remain secret."
Look, it's not going to be Babylon 5 is it. Cheers, PSLifestyle.

OMG OMG OMG OMG >changes pants< OMG OMG OMG OMG!!
Please let this be true!!
And then next week in my perfect world, BioWare announce KotoR 3, my poo turns out to be made of solid gold and Man City go bankrupt, are deducted thirty points and are relegated along with Chelsea and Liverpool just for fun...
Just thinking and debating in my head whether this would benefit from waiting till next gen - graphics aside, better jedi-esque physics, more players per map, bigger space battles... I need to lie down!
@golli - our xbox live headsets were hacked, notw style!

With barely contained joy: I hope this true I put hours of fun into both SWBF1 and SWBF2. Alas it will probably just end up as OXM having us on as part of a sick joke they concocted.
Oh god, please Bioware, please make it, I'll do anything. Anything.
*whistles*

Consider: Battlefront 3 with Frostbite 2 physics and destruction. Hoth levels the size of Operation Firestorm. Imperial walkers you can actually fight inside. Simultaneous space and ground missions where the space dudes have to fight their way through a blockade in order to relieve their mates below (Section 8 and MOH Airborne could be useful reference points).
Methinks I feel a speculatory feature coming on...

I'm afraid that if i consider that the world as i know it will cease to exist - something akin to crossing the streams on ghostbusters?
Shelve the rest of your workload Ed and get writing - tell Jonty the forum demands it!
I know games development is more complex than what the people want, but surely a dev looking for a game to make could spend ten minutes googling and realise that on every fan forum going battlefront 3 & Kotor 3 are two of the most longed for games (along with shenmue/Jade Empire sequel?). Star Wars could sell used bog roll so surely in these economic times it's one of the most low risk games to make? Even force unleashed 2 sold decently i believe which was a travesty compared to the 'decent if not life endingly amazing original'

Stop it Ed! You just know this will turn out to be Force Unleashed 3, my reasoning is BF3 isn't known as a sword fighting game. I know 2 had jedi in but they weren't good enough to make the game considered to be a sword fighting one. I praise Talos to be absolutely wrong. I think this was the company I said was rumoured to be making 3 when we spoke about BF3.. maybe it's Ed hacking us?
Bezza89 on 7 Feb '12 said:
haha Sid - tell Jonty forget about everything. KotoR and BFnt 3 is what the forums want. You're Official Xbox Magazine- you can get them to start development.
SidTheSloth on 7 Feb '12 said:
Maybe if everyone paid for KotoR 3 now into some sort of shared account from around the world BioWare/EA could be tempted? I'll set an account up in my name, let you all know the details and you can all pay in to it and i'll bring it to their attention, honest
I could be playing awesome star wars BioWare escapades now if my stupid and ridiculous morals would let me buy/pay for the Old Republic but MMO's are not a road i ever want to go down to be honest (despite how shiny and star wars-y it looks)!

It's an option but the last time I did that I almost got married! Life lesson: never trust a clown.
SidTheSloth on 7 Feb '12 said:
See what you've done now Bezza? Ed's only gone and killed the poor guy (although serves him right for not making the bloody sequel sooner!), now we'll never get KotoR 3
Don't worry, you can put £40 into my account and i promise we won't get married, in fact you'll likely never see or hear from me again!
OXM ETboy on 7 Feb '12 said:
Don't worry, he'll live. Though I seem to have left him with the strong impression that he's a woman. This Force stuff is tricky.

Careful Ed that sounds like some weird fan fiction. A fantasy of yours perhaps? *mocking laugh*

Hmmm, maybe this explains the mystery behind Heather Small... I've always been suspicious!
If you need the practice you could always try your force powers out on:
Mick Hucknall
Anyone from Level 42
Jedward
Katie Price
Kerry Katona
Anything(one) from that TOWIE thing
You'd probably be in line for a knighthood for doing the world a favour!
Feel free to add your own suggestions
Plamsa wing on 7 Feb '12 said:
Shouldn't that be most people from reality TV? Forget a knighthood Ed could be world leader for all I care if he did that.
Oh and the people on Loose Women.

Bioware should defer to Obsidian again, it makes sense seeing as they are wasting away on South Park. New Vegas was good - not bethesda quality but 90% there. They did KotoR II and that was.... I can't remember but I have it for PC somewhere, and it certainly wasn't bad, Mr Smile says it was good. Failing that, defer ME4/spin-offs to obisidian so you can do KotoR 3, you have the old republic engine already it wouldn't take you long to make it single playery again, and you have co-op already built in, though that isn't needed.
CunningSmile on 7 Feb '12 said:
KoToR2 came in for a lot of flack as a result of bugs (it's Obsidian after all) and LucasArts cutting release time so a lot of content got cut and left plot threads left dangling but I like it equally to KoToR1. The plot twists aren't as earth shaking, but I prefer the characters, the more developed influence system and the character progression.
Give them KoToR3, but make sure to give jobs to the Telos Restoration Project. They are a group of moders who have spent years rebuilding the Knights2 missing content from random lines of code. Those guys need recognition.
Bezza89 on 7 Feb '12 said:
Interesting - is it worth sourcing the content?
Clanger67 on 7 Feb '12 said:
I had it back in my pc playing days and understood they cut no end of content out.I however had given up a lot on the pc when the modders got hold of it,heard they did a good job though.
CunningSmile on 7 Feb '12 said:
I did try finding a link for more info but their pages have been deleted from both Wiki and Wookie-pedia. Odd, since LucasArts used to take rather a fond view of their activities rather than slapping them with law suits. They had put about three complete chapters back together, mostly revolving around HK-47 fighting the other assassin droids, more in depth fates for several companions that seem to just vanish after you crash and a plot thread involving the GenoHaradan assassins you 'work' for in KoToR1. Not played them myself as I'm not a PC gamer but they have a good reputation if you can still find them.

If this is true I will die with joy.
However if it is so I hope you're NOT able to play as Jedi. That ruined BF2 because the whole concept of the game was to be a soldier, but this introduction just meant you killed a few dudes then absolutely minced everyone else.
...And I liked it when the Jedi were NPCs, which they removed from 2 as well
All in all though, please be true! I wish Pandemic were still around to make it though :/

I think they would make alot of money of selling them on games on demand, along with Battlefront 1 + 2 aswell, id buy all 4 if they did do them

I read this article and the comments with a massive sense of deja vu and dread. Why? - because I have read the same on other sites at least twice year for the last three years, and got less and less excited each time. Everytime a job is advertised that could even be remotely linked to SWBF3 then it seems everyone has some kind of memory lapse and forgets the last upteen times its happened. Don't get me wrong I would love to see both KOTOR3 and SWBF3 but won't believe it till its announced - prob not till/ for next gen in my opinion. On another point Action/ Adventure is a bit vague but doesn't really fit the description of either of those games.
God I hate getting old I want to be excited damn it!!!!
ridinglikesatan on 10 Feb '12 said:
To be honest, I find this hard to get excited about, I was never an early player of games like Battlefront, I started of in more niche games, like Legacy of Kain and Onimusha. And after playing 2 several months ago, I felt underwhelmed, not because of the graphics, the frankly don't bother me whatsoever. The gameplay just left a lot to be desired, a lot like Boardlands.
