The OXM Report - Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

Mike tries to catch Ubisoft off-guard

When I'm sneaking up on somebody in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, I like to pretend they're doing a pantomime routine.

"He's behind you!" screams an unseen audience (possibly via Kinect), and "Oh no he isn't!" the perp replies, glancing over his shoulder at a moving patch of murderous nothing. "Oh yes he is!" they chorus dutifully, and it's all very pleasant and heart-warming right up to the point when I jam a combat knife through the man's spongy bits.

When you're under fire in Future Soldier, the camera sneaks in close to simulate suppression.
Popular report is silent on whether Mike Channell - he of the self-elevating hat - entertains similar fancies when playing the new Ghost Recon, but he certainly seems chuffed about the idea in the latest OXM Report, a head-to-head with lead game designer Roman Campos Oriola.

The chat delves into what's changed since the E3 2010 demo, how the game mixes stealth with action, and why it's a blast in co-op. You'll read more about all that in the latest issue of OXM, on shelves now.

Look out for another OXM Report on Xbox Live this very evening. It's about Tiger Woods.

  1. Hurray, the video player works properly - ace.

I'm still not convinced by this game, doesn't seem to offer much more than something like Syndicate to me, other than Clancy-ness. I read the preview but I'm still far from aching to purchase it.

  2. Seconded Mr Jam... I like most things Clancy but i never really got on with any of the GRAW games, rainbow six being better in almost all aspects, in my particular opinion of course.

Syndicate (despite my demo bashing aside) does at least have a USP i'm keen to see more of, not really sure what the draw is with (erm) GRAW!? (sorry!)
