Microsoft's issued an Xbox Live service alert, warning of problems with account management. If you're about to Jump In for the first time, or claw your account back from a mate's console, you might want to hold off for a few hours.
The official Xbox Live service page notes that "users may experience difficulties with the following services: creating new Xbox LIVE accounts, managing those accounts, or recovering an account on a different console".
As ever, "we are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience."
