Resident Evil 6 demo hits Xbox 360 first, coming in July

But only if you buy Dragon's Dogma

Capcom's announced a Resident Evil 6 demo for 3rd July on Xbox 360. Other platforms have to wait till September. Sold? Don't dance for joy just yet - you'll need a copy of Dragon's Dogma, out 25th May in Europe, if you want early access to the new Leon Kennedy.

Stranger to Dragon's Dogma? It's a sprawling fantasy action game which sees players hunting mythical beasts with the aid of AI companions. It's got serious depth - you can completely re-customise your squad at any point, and there's a mighty open world to wander - but we're still waiting to discover whether the associated running, slicing and dicing is worth the asking price.

Resident Evil 6 is a safer proposition: it doesn't seem to be turning back the clock to survival horror's heyday, but it's got three standalone campaigns, online co-op and a welter of predictably tentacle-tastic setpieces. Lovers of ripped-up B-movie tropes should be amused. Discussing the franchise as a whole, Capcom has said it's eager to seduce Call of Duty's customers.

Here's the trailer again. Resident Evil 6 is out worldwide on 20th November.

  1. I have heard absolutely nothing about Dragon's Dogma at all (that I can remember...), which isn't a great sign. Is it new IP for Capcom? (I presume it is Capcom?)

Yeah in the read more OXM did a feature on it 12th april last year.It doesn't sound bad it is capcom.

  3. Sounds like they're trying to turn Dragon's Dogma into another Crackdown, a game that people only buy because it gives them access to something else. Which is all well and good if the game is decent in its own right, and Crackdown wasn't awful, but if they're just trying to boost sales of a stinker, I'm not going to be happy.

  4. I read some stuff about it a year or so back, a big fantasy RPG/adventure game similar to Monster Hunter, but everything has gone quiet since. Not normally a good sign.

  5. This all started with Zone Of The Enders back on the PS2 with the MGS2 demo. It's sad because it shifts the focus of what are normally good, decent games. Zone Of The Enders was brilliant, Crackdown is brilliant. I'm not saying Dragon's Dogma will follow suit, but I still don't agree that the Resi 6 demo should be used as bait to buy it. Resi 6 demo should be available to all.

Agreed, that's what I wanted to say but had a feeling it would come out wrong, I was sincerely thinking that the demo would be on the Marketplace and I'm rather disappointed it won't be, at least in July (if there's possiblity of a pre release demo). But knowing Capcom, the demo to Resi 6 contained with Dragon's Dogma will probably be a multiplayer demo which is all fair and good but I would much prefer a single player demo.
