It's Mass Effect 3 week

All our Mass Effect coverage in one place

If your idea of fun is watching a mile-long mutant snake bite the head off a sentient spaceship, or depriving somebody of gravity so a friend can freeze them in mid-air, Mass Effect 3 is your game of 2012.

We've written a lot about BioWare's galaxy-ending epic, but the coverage machine is about to well and truly kick into overdrive. To celebrate the impending launch of the Mass Effect 3 demo in February, we're formally declaring the last week of January Mass Effect 3 week.

Each and every day for the next five days, we'll be publishing the frankest BioWare interviews, the most searching Mass Effect 3 gameplay breakdowns and the most insightful/amusing Mass Effect 3 features. You'll find each and every one of them on this magnificent hub page. It's not quite the Normandy's Galaxy Map, but on the plus side, you won't have to replenish your fuel reserves between entries.

Enjoy the week.

  1. It's stay away from oxm for fear of spoilers week! Unless you can ease my fears by saying no spoilerly articles...

  2. It's stay away from oxm for fear of spoilers week!

Yep, sad but true... I understand the need for the articles if they're catering for the majority but do people really want to read this stuff and risk spoiling the story for themselves (rhetorical question)? Obviously they do or the articles wouldn't exist (would they?) but i don't get it - surely far better to play the game for yourself than have the effect diluted through a preview?

That idiot on here the other day has already caused me more than enough anger on the subject anyway so i'll take my leave (cheered you all up!!) :)

  3. We are trying very hard to avoid spoilers. Anything that might upset will be flagged in advance - for example, there's one reference to the start of ME3 right at the end of Matt's characters piece. But the rest of it is summarising what happened in ME1/ME2 so it shouldn't spoil anything save the fact that their status will vary depending on how you've played.

Appreciated, and i know you guys must cater for the masses, im aware im probably in the minority who doesn't want to know about it, and whilst i know your guys will be restrained, it's the comments bit that gives free reign! :D

I should clarify that "the idiot" i refer to wasn't/isn't magazine staff (i wouldn't be that rude), it was someone who'd been reading something from another site and was trying to find out if it was true on here, sadly there was little warning and i fear it will indeed be true :(

  5. This is probably the only game that is going to get me off Skyrim at the moment. I have still not played Arkham City, Dark Souls.

Any idea how many discs it will be on, I would think min 2, lots of permutations with characters from 2...

Looked at a pre-order pack for PS3 ME3, 360 was crossed out for some reason, Looks like you get a Robotic Dog.

Then try harder damn it! It's going to be hard for me staying away from ME3 news. I've already spoiled one character for myself as a result.

I think that's only with the collectors edition, the dog. 360 ones have sold out/preordered out apparently for C/Editions so I could be very right.

Disc wise, I'm hoping 3 - two for the SP, one separate disc for mp nonsense. A tweet has said '360 version is already at two discs' followed by 'fairly sure 360 version is 2 discs'. Google, no in fact, Bing it because bing always has nice pictures on its homepage, and that should help.

Sid, Jonty - I wont be looking at the articles, because I like to keep myself in the dark like you sid. You oxm lot haven't spoiled anything yet, though I remember reading your Mass Effect 2 review and it said ME2 SPOILER Joker died in the first paragraph. Well obviously this didn't happen but it was still a shock to be reading it, it's like writing Darth Vader is Han Solos acupuncturist...

  8. It's great to get myself re-acquainted with the characters and stories and stuff, I think I'll pick up ME2 at some point and finish off my second playthrough, might even start of an ME1 one from scratch if there's time.

  9. I already feel bad because i know know who's going to be in mass effect 3 but i just couldn't help myself.

  10. everything i read about this game is getting me more excited!!!, i started playing mass effect 2 last week and have played 29 hours of it already! ...dont tell my wife but ive booked a week off from work for ME3...

  11. Will ME3 week continue into Saturday and Sunday

Is the week over then now? Is it safe to come back? :D

Looking forward to this as much as anyone but i don't want to know aaaaaanything, but seeing an article on the homepage with the headline "Mass Effect 3 levels: the Citadel, London, Mars and North Korea" made me want to pick up my ball and go home! I can ignore the achievements type spoilers as i don't have to read them but it's kinda hard to miss headlines!!

  13. I second that Sid, however; shit happens, right? lol

  14. The headline one was my bad, though in fairness most of it's been spoiled already - London features in the game's debut trailer, Mars screenshots are already doing the rounds and BioWare discussed the Citadel with us last year. Apologies though. I'll be more careful in future.

  15. I second that Sid, however; shit happens, right? lol

    Indeed :D

That wasn't an "I hate the world, I'll never buy OXM ever again, i'm going to drive to london to do a dirty protest outside the offices" type rant, more an observation!

EDIT: Cheers Ed, appreciate the london part but i've (somehow) managed to avoid reading all of the rest, any interview or news section i've just completely avoided. Like Bezza says though, it's not life ending, and like i said above, i realise im well in the minority and the masses do want to read about this stuff! :)

  16. As far as I know, London is just in the trailers, and so are all of the others. I wont hear anything against this
