Namco's The Witcher 2 will hit Xbox 360 on 17th April. But why should you care? It's just a PC hand-me-down, right? And we've got plenty of role-players this side of the barricade.
Correction: The Witcher 2 is an enormously good PC hand-me-down that features an additional four hours' worth of content, including three new characters and two new adventures during the game's third act.
Also, one can never have too many great role-players. Now let us never speak of this again.
The game stars Geralt, a man skilled in the art of bumping supernatural creatures off this mortal coil. It takes place in third-person, and features a harsher shade of fantasy world than you may be used to.

Here are some screenshots. Remember, 17th April. If you buy the "Dark" Edition you'll get a making-of disc, soundtrack, 200-page artbook, stickers and a wolf's head Witcher medallion. Tempted?

Tempted indeed, however I'll wait for the price to drop with this one, are those extra four hours all the dlc or will there be more of that on the way? I remember reading we'd have to buy it separate whereas the PC version get it for free. Put me off big time.

Are we sure we're getting this over here? Only I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Hopefully we do since I loved it when I tried it on a friends PC.

I am very much looking forward to this.Have the first one and played it to death on the pc.Hope it is polished the first one was a little broken even the collectors edition they released a bit after supposedly all patched up and fixed. It is a shame they have done away with the playing card mementos that you got for scoring with women in the first one but should be a refreshing more hand to hand combat focused game.Hope they have kept the special swords you can find with names as well. The books are pretty good to.

I don't know very much about this game but I am certainly impressed by what I have seen of it. Will be watching closely to see more about it and the gameplay before I commit to purchasing. I certainly won't be buying the special edition (although I do like the look of the medallion) It isn't worth the extra money to me.

I'm a fan of RPGs but i've not heard much about this one, what is it similar to and do you think it would be a good buy?

If it like the first it is about the witchers who are a band of people who are very accomplished with swords. The first was third person and you carry different styles of swords these can be used in three different stances. One for power, one when you are surrounded you also power up lethal combos by pressing different buttons in sequence. There was plenty of missions, side missions. And you can upgrade your character as you progress. You were also able to find special swords with names that are very powerful.Hope this helps and that most of this is still relevant in the new one.

This is great news. I was seriously pissed off with the Witcher cancellation news last year, so to see this series 'back from the dead' on the 360 is great.

Since the 17th April is a Tuesday and this game is nowhere near high profile enough to justify a simultaneous worldwide release, I'd say this was a US release date. Don't you have a calendar in the OXM office?

I am not sure but all the places you can buy games are saying the 17th.Also cd projekt red are polish which means surely that is the european release date.
Edit: They are saying the 10th of feb.,for the normal not enhanced version.

From what I've heard about this from our PC playing brethern this isn't really like anything else. As with a lot of the Eastern European stuff coming out it's a fairly original take on fantasy coming from their different culture and literature, and is much more shades of grey than the black and white morality of Western RPGs. One thing often commented on is that for an RPG it's quite quick, with a single play through taking as little as 15-20 hours. However if you replay and make a different decision you suddenly unlock a completely new quest path and even different cities and play through a completely different 20 hours.
I've not actually played any of them myself, but the books they are based on are really good with a very original take on fantasy and a very dislikeable/strangely likeable protagonist.
