UPDATE 2: It's definitely launching in the autumn. Gearbox has just released the following, rather high-minded statement:
"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don't necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line. While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective.
"We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritising this goal over the previously targeted date."
ORIGINAL STORY: As predicted in our last preview, Sega has pushed back Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines from spring to autumn 2012 release.
The news comes care of the game's official site, with a little help from AVP Galaxy.
We'll mail Sega for comment. In the meantime, check out our Aliens: Colonial Marines round-up for everything you need to know about the game, including story, weapon, enemy and co-op details.

Say hello to the new 'Duke Nukem'. By that I mean a game that won't be released for 10 years. This game is forever being delayed, I've lost all hope now.

Carnage24 has the right idea. I love the Alien(s) franchise but I can't get the thought out of my head that this is going to be one of those hyped up games that spends an eternity in development and then turns out to be incredibly mediocre... it's not something I'll rush out and buy day one, at least.

I really want this game to be good but fear it will not be - All the videos so far have shown that they cannot get the most basic thing right - the 'Alien Blood' Since when was it Bright Green, Evaporate and NOT Acidic!! This was most evident when a character is jumped on by an Alien and said character (who was underneath) shotgun blasts the Aliens head off. The blood splashed everywhere but then disappeared rapidly and said character stood up with NO acidic damage - this would NOT happen in the Alien universe!!!

Totally right but in the movies alien blood can melt through layers of reinforced steel it would be annoying if you were insta killed when you blast an alien at close range. Just take a look at any zombie game, your suppose to turn into a zombie from the slightest blood drawing scratch/bite it would be a little annoying if you were insta killed there. Although it would be extremely dissapointing if there weren't some side effects for splitting an aliens head open, spraying it's blood everywhere with your shotgun and using its blood to re model your own face.

Ironic that after managing to get Duke Nukem to market Gearbox have created it's replacement on the vaporware stakes.

I've signed up to the website just to comment on this one page.
I remember when this game was first mentioned when i saw it in a copy of OXM when i was at school.
Since then, ive done 2 years of college and 2 years of work. Thats how long its been.
It's ridiculous how long it takes to make a game when you can't even guarantee it will have replay ability. If this is anything like the most recent AvP then its a ton of work gone to waste. AvP wasn't a bad game. But it wasn't amazing either.
If your going to delay a game for around 4 years, you best make it f**king good.

Agreed, I don't mind waiting if a game is amazing. Waiting if it turns out like Duke Nukem Forever?
And stick around now your here

Still looking forward to this (aren't we all - ha!), it's a shame it's slipped but that's what happens in games. An awful lot of people have mentioned the blood thing, I suspect they will take that on board with this extra time....hopefully.

Or they could just put in a line of dialogue about how their new fancy armour is made of a special plastic polymer that resists acid... or something.

Yeah maybe...
Just seen a teaser trailer for it and that looks awesome and really does convey the Alien universe well - hopefully that will translate into the game too

Looks like they may have sorted the 'Blood' issue out and at least realise it is important!!!

The aliens won't care. They are cold (hot acid, cold) blooded killers, creatures who laugh (can they laugh or just go teehee and chortle) at our feeble attempts to best them. The delay is because they are including ZOMBIES in this game and have only just decided it. 'We have run through all the other scenarios and have decided that we can't fcuk up the franchise any further so yeah, why not zombies. Why not indeed?
