Scarygirl, DOOM and Haunt hit Xbox Live Arcade today

One Kinect chiller, one classic blaster and one funky platformer

Three new games are now yours for the taking on Xbox Live Arcade - id Software's inimicable DOOM, chic Burton-flavoured platformer Scarygirl and Kinect-powered ghostbusting exercise Haunt.

Haunt and Scarygirl are worth 800 MP, and DOOM - released late last year, then pulled over expired publishing rights - will be available for a laughable 400 MP. Looks like somebody was listening when Mike had that moan about Xbox Live Arcade prices. See man - you do matter.

I'm interested to play Haunt, following abysmal survival horror rip-off Amy. Can Kinect give the genre the oomph it needs to succeed on Live Arcade? Imagine, if you will, flinching from a ghost by actually flinching back. Game on, Silent Hill.

Scarygirl is based on a rather fancy French comicbook, and appears to be a callback to 2.5D gem Pandemonium, among other worthy retro hits. Screenshots down this internet alleyway.

  1. hmm...i dont see doom but I do see Swarm...didnt that come out last year...why is it listed as a new release on marketplace?

  2. The new marketplace is broken. I really don't like the update. I have tried to get used to it, like every previous one, the changes always take some getting used to but this one sucks big time.

  3. im going to be picky lol, but Doom was released on xbla back in 2008, i know this as m oldest achievement for the game is date stamped 2008.

Doom was taken off because of licence problems and this is being rereleased, so you're both right.
