Devil May Cry trailer achieves flawless victory

Watch Dante rough up some demon bods without taking a scratch

Capcom has released a new trailer for Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry reboot, showing what happens when you combine charming young men, swords, guns and demon eyeballs.

It's impressive stuff, Dante using a grab-hook to yoink enemies within reach of a good sound thrashing. Several weapons, some throwable, are shown, and much blood is shed. It's not quite Bayonetta, but this all looks rather impressive.

That's providing you can grit your teeth and endure the horrific scarring pain of the revamped aesthetic. Oh no, Dante has dark hair! And he looks a bit Western. It's the end of days, I tell you.

Slated for release in early 2012, the new Devil May Cry tells the story of Dante's younger years, and takes place in Limbo City, a vaguely Mediterranean burg that periodically transforms Silent-Hill-style into a twisted hellworld.

  1. Actually looks pretty good imo. And I even like the new Dante, he seems a lot less cliched than the original.

  2. Looks good, very shiny. Not worried about the visual changes/reboot-ness. To be honest I'm more concerned whether or not it can hold my attention. Devil May Cry 4 I think I got through about 5 or 6 chapters (past the boss through a window in a lab like thing where many sword like things attack you...if that makes sense to anyone...)

I like the sound of this game, but it really depends how it plays as to whether it's worth me getting. The fact that Batman kept me hooked is an example of good (if user-controllable with the free roam aspect).

I think a demo would give me enough idea one way or another...

Y'know (Mr) Jam, based on the limited information i've garnered from the site i reckon Castlevania may be even more up your street than DMC? I like all these sorts of games and reckon castlevania is severely underrated/played, it's cheap as now too of course. There haven't been ay decent games out for quite a while too >ahem< so now might be a good time to give it a look :|

I know you're very sceptical of the capcom HD remakes too but if you liked DMC4 then you could do a lot worse than get the remakes, 1 (maybe a little dated now) >>>>> 3 >>>>> 4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2 (turd)

I keep hoping that as they're faffing with DMC they'll resurrect the Onimusha series. Never played the xbox version but the ps2 games were awesome (although again they got more ridiculous with each sequel).

Given your legendarily short attention span that is the highest praise I think I've ever heard

I know, clearly some sort of deal-with-the-devil was signed to make it happen!
