The newly-announced Rainbow Six Patriots is being created with a view to being the leading online shooter, Ubisoft Montreal has told OXM.
"Rainbow 6 has a long history of innovation and the team has definitely embraced that legacy," creative director David Sears told us during our recent visit to Ubisoft Montreal for the game's unveiling. " "Rainbow 6 was once the number one online shooter and we fully intend to reclaim that crown. Our squad-based gameplay and enhanced communication features make Rainbow Six: Patriots unique." A bold statement indeed, considering the vice-like grip Call of Duty has on the Xbox Live charts.

So do we think Rainbow 6 Patriots has a chance of stealing the march on Call of Duty? You'll have to read our exclusive cover feature, where we speak to Sears about the new face of terrorism, discover how the team will show the human side of conflict and exactly how Ubisoft Montreal plans to nab that top spot. It's on sale Wednesday 30th November in shops. You can also order a copy online, download it from iTunes or (if you're using Android) from Zinio, or set up a subscription.

Maybe they shouldn't put too much focus on multiplayer, this is whats wrong with alot of game developers they put too much on the multiplayer and just deliver a half arsed singleplayer, multplayer should come second unless it's released as a game thats main focus is multiplayer and not stating otherwise.

R6 Vegas 1 and 2 were epic for there time and i still look back on R6V2 campaign with very fond memories. rainbow six will always be a favourite of mine so the chance of another title is great news. However good a campaign is the multi-player side is the part that keeps the gaming going in the long term so obviously a lot of care and dedication needs to go into the development of the game to ensure people will stay on the servers. there was a time i spent most of my on-line game time on R6V2 now though its call of duty games simply because of the superior quality of the gaming, so if R6 is ever going to have a chance to compete with cod and battlefield games its got to pull something great out of the bag. I have every hope that this is the case as i like the style of R6 and especially the Vegas missions. Patriots has a lot riding on the multi-player being great for me though and i am definitely looking forwards to a night on the campaign.
