Microsoft has confirmed to OXM that both Kinect Star Wars and the limited-edition Xbox 360 Star Wars bundle have been delayed.
Previously listed for release in "holiday 2011," both have now been pushed back, presumably to next year although no new date has been given. Speaking exclusively to OXM, Microsoft said the delay was in order to achieve the game's "full potential."
"Microsoft and LucasArts have elected to move the launch of Kinect Star Wars beyond holiday 2011 to ensure the full potential of this title is realized," a spokesperson told us. "This move applies to both the Kinect Star Wars stand-alone game and the Kinect Star Wars Limited Edition Console. We will communicate additional timing information at a later date."

That said, even a bad Star Wars game would have sold if accompanied with the delightfully nerdy R2D2/C3PO themed console bundle, which means that Microsoft has sacrificed a big Christmas sales spike with the delay.

It must be truly terrible if they're holding it back beyond Christmas, especially (as you quite rightly pointed out) the console bundle will sell out in seconds. It's easy money.

Full potential, well, doesn't it have the potential to give small creatures cancer and turn David Cameron into Nick Clegg?
I hope they mean potential in terms of 'The game isn't up to Microsoft standards (in terms of lag etc), so we're delaying until good, the bundle will obviously be released simultaneously'.
They could however mean 'The game has some stiff competition both in kinect titles and 'core' titles, so we'll release in the spring to maximize profitability. '
Let's hope for Plan A, (not my Dylan Moran reference).

Now that its bin delayed, I hope that they make a few changes. Like making they kinet resemble C3pO (gold) and the controller resemble chewbacca (brown) with a ammunition belt design going across the controller.

I'm in no rush for this as there are plenty of amazing games only weeks away.
As far as i'm concerned they can take another year as long as they get it right!
